Golfing at Clearwater Lodge
Clearwater Lodge is just a 10 minute drive from the Fall River Valley Golf and Country Club. This beautiful 18-hole course, designed by Clark Glasson and opened in 1980, is frequently rated one of California's favorite courses. It features large well-maintained bentgrass greens, multiple tee areas and carefully manicured fairways. With yardages from 5600 to 7400, it is suitable for golfers of all skill levels. The course rating is 74.7 and has a slope rating of 134 on rye grass. Abundant wildlife, great views of Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen, a relaxed country atmosphere, and a wonderfully friendly staff make the Fall River course a truly unique and memorable golf destination.
The course is usually uncrowded and offers an intimate playing experience. It has received mention for excellent "pace of play" and as an "outstanding value" in Golf Digest's "Places to Play." Beautiful lakes and mature trees come into play on some holes. The greens are large and fast and the fairways are wide. Hole #3 is a long 672-yard, par 5, with a double dogleg fairway. This hole has been rated as one of the toughest in the state.
A rustic clubhouse features a pro shop with golf attire, souvenirs, golf balls, and other necessities. Breakfast, sandwiches, snacks, as well as beer and wine are available in the country club grill seven days a week. There is a putting green and driving range for warm-up or practice.
